The K-3 is looking pretty good so far.

Thanks, Bruce. I did a complete writeup of the test in the post. The lens was a Tokina ATX 400mm f5.6 - an older lens from the film era. My original copy of this lens got a fungus infection so I replaced it with another, IIRC for under $400. Not a fancy high end lens, but one that I like. Fill flash was with an AF360FGZ, but virtually no fill effect is seen. I have a couple of the AF360's but use them for macro work where a weaker flash is needed since the shots are usually well short of the minimum distance that the flash is designed for. If I was gonna do birds other than for tests I'd get a stronger flash.

Comments not in the post: I used the lens at f6.7 and f8. Lens reaches its maximum sharpness at f8 or 11, but is a bit soft at f 5.6. The background foliage was about 1 yard / meter away from the subjects. The subject were about 12 - 15 feet form the camera.
