i would test in both "difficult" and "easy" situations to learn how these make a difference; i will remove a filter in special situations, but i leave it on 99% of the time
i like B+W MRC filters because they are really easy to clean, and i do find spatter marks on them sometimes — both urban and natural environments can put tiny droplets into the air; i tried Marumi — good optical coatings for less money — but they are comparatively hard to clean
