This is of some interest, particularly because one of the rumors out there is that this is the same sensor that Pentax is using for their upcoming full frame.
http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Sony_Alpha_A7r/Sony_A7r_vs_Nikon_D800e_noise.shtml What I find more objectionable than the NOISE is the weird color shifts that start to come into play on the Nikon. What's up with that? Tester's conclusion: The Sony starts to have an advantage at ISO 400 and can be more readily seen starting at 800. I wonder how much of this is due to the sensor design and how much is due to the Milbeaut version 7 image processing engine (which Pentax calls PRIME III and uses in the K-3). I would anticipate that Nikon will be soon issuing an updated D800E that uses this same Fujitsu image processor for greater thru-put and FPS. There is also a similar comparison of the A7r noise vs the Canon 5D Mk III http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Sony_Alpha_A7r/Sony_A7r_vs_Canon_EOS_5D_Mark_III_noise.shtml and the A7r vs A7 http://www.cameralabs.com/reviews/Sony_Alpha_A7r/noise.shtml -- Nothing is sure but death and Pentaxes. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
