I've mentioned before about the great exhibition that's on at the moment at the Science Museum in London of photos by Tony Ray-Jones. Chris M and I went to see it a couple of weeks ago - my second time - I love TR-J's work.
Anyway, there's an audio slideshow of some of the work on the BBC News site here, if you're lucky enough to be able to run it in your jurisdiction: <http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-24826739> The exhibition details are here: <http://www.sciencemuseum.org.uk/visitmuseum/Plan_your_visit/exhibitions/onl y_in_england.aspx> If you can't see the slideshow you might enjoy looking at some of his better-known photos at the Science and Society photo library: <http://www.scienceandsociety.co.uk/results.asp?searchtxtkeys=Tony%20Ray-Jon es> A new book of his photos is also recently published, and I received my copy last week. It is called American Colour, and shows pictures he took in America before he returned to the UK to start the work for which he became well-known. The book is superb - you can see all his influences coming into play, and his gradual development. There's a review here: <http://www.theguardian.com/books/2013/oct/05/american-colour-tony-ray-jones -review> I think I own a copy of all the books by or about him, but they have all now become very valuable. "A Day Off" for example will set you back the best part of 900 quid on Amazon.co.uk. So if you like to collect photo books as a little potential investment, this would be a good one.
