I liked it best before they added what Al was calling "The handicap access ramp" for the NASCAR drivers. When they did that, they made some other changes, which don't allow for cutting across the dirt inside the apex with your right wheels. But, the character of that turn hasn't really changed much. Turn seven is nowhere near as fun now that it has been opened up with the added pavement from the handicapped ramp. The last two sessions yesterday (one of which I ran until my car started spewing steam) used the handicapped ramp. > > Gonna do it again? Of course. If racing left marks, both of my arms would be covered with needle tracks. I first ran Sears Point at Bondurant, almost exactly 27 years ago. I did SCCA drivers school there. It has always been my favorite track (though Thunderhill is the more common track for schools these days). I didn't expect to be back on the track until I got my MG running again. The only problem is that if I'm teaching, and don't have to pay the $300 for the weekend, then the other costs, if I'm honest with myself, start at about $300 for the weekend. Going as a participant, rather than an instructor is a much easier weekend, so that brings the cost up to about $600, or more. So, I need to be a lot more judicious about my track time than I have been in the past. > > Kenneth Waller > http://www.pentaxphotogallery.com/kennethwaller > > ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry Colen" <[email protected]> > Subject: Re: PESO tired > > > >On Mon, Nov 11, 2013 at 03:39:39PM -0500, [email protected] wrote: > >>Ah, so you picked up some klaag! > >> > >>I enjoyed Sears Point before they revised it a while back - loved > >>that fall away right hander on the back side (I forget the number). > > > >I think that you might mean turn 4: > >http://red4est.com/pdapi/searspt.html > > > >Or you might be confusing it with the carousel, turn 6, > >which is a long falling left hander. > > > >> > >>How'd the MX5 do? > > > >Only about five seconds a lap slower than I used to do in my Honda > >station wagon. > > > >I was on street rubber, rather than race tires, but I think that the big > >problems were with the spacer that fits between the seat and the > >steering wheel. > > > >It was an eventful weekend.
