I asked a ranger what kind of minerals we were looking at, and told him I suspected the tuquoise to contain a lot of copper. He could not confirm but told me the purple stuff was manganese. According to Wikipedia, the green stuff is mica, but that's a family of minerals that can have a lot of different metallic "contaminants".
