Paul, Zos - you should try this once or twice. Zos, as you suggest, sometimes 
out-of-focus areas can add to a composition, but if you want sharpness 
throughout, then this can be a useful tool.

And if you shoot with a camera that supports tethering, then there is probably 
an app that will automate the process of successive shots. If for example you 
were using this approach to doing small product shots. Or if you had many 
botanical or insect specimens that needed to be captured for journal or 
textbook illustrations.
