Pentax as much as says that the 1.7x auto focus adapter shouldn't be used with any lens slower than f2.8. But I had good luck with it using the A*300 f4.0 on even such enchant film bodies as the ZX-5n. I expect it depends more on the low light capabilities of the camera itself. However that teleconverter seems to have electrical problems that make it more problematic.
