Most pro photographers never actually made a living selling their images. Only a very few have for a very long time. IIRC to be considered a pro you have to make what 10% or 30% of your income from photography, I don't remember exactly, but those are the numbers that stick in my mind. Most made at least part of their income from teaching and seminars.

I don't see phone cameras as any bigger threat to photography than the original Brownie cameras were.
