Thanks, Bruce - I used to do a little dog & pony show for camera clubs &
whatnot where I went into all of the detail about how to take snow
crystals - I don't know if any of the folks who attended those ever took
any though!

Fabulous images, as always, Mark. Is your snow crystal shooting how-to
book on sale yet? :-) Seriously, I'm certain there's a market.

Pentax K-3, SMC DFA 50mm f2.8, flash. The snow crystals were not too
well
formed but the K-3 and DFA 50 did a great job.

The start of the season is always about getting setup again and getting
things working properly. This year aside form upgrading the camera
and lens
I stopped using the AF360FGZ and just slapped a little Achiever
manual flash
onto a PC to hot shoe adapted and ran it through an Olympus Safe
Synch. The
AF360 kept going into power saving mode and then resetting itself,
requiring
constant attention. TGhe little manual flash with a bit of white cloth
wrapped around it works great.

Lots of detail in the K-3 images - I think the DFA 50mm f2.8 is
optically
superior to the Sigma EX 50 that I used before (the non-digital
version).
