Brian, as I read their note, it recommends using their formatter in lieu of the computers' generic formatting process designed for a variety of storage media. And that makes sense. But it doesn't speak to in-camera formatting since presumably the camera manufacturers are using formatting procedures specifically tuned for the SD media.
