A slight correction. The photo was taken in Virginia City not Nevada
City (the two towns are only about a kilometre apart).
I believe most of the buildings date from the mid 1800s. We hadn't
originally planned to go there on our travels, but just before we left
Oz I found an article on Montana Ghost Towns in 'Outdoor
Photographer'. Virginia City and Nevada City didn't involve a huge
detour. I'm glad we went.
