I was making a deliberate effort to reflect (!) in my photos something of the baroque obsession, which continues to this day in French culture, with elements like trompe l'oeuil, mirrors and reflections, "mise en abyme", optical illusion, the labyrinth, rigid geometry and so on that all underpin Versailles.
