As I'm getting ready for my road trip, I remembered that I never repaired the loop at the bottom of my tripod shaft that I'd use for attaching a strap to so I could conveniently carry it over my shoulder. I found the solution in a 1/4-20 eye bolt, which also turned out to be a cheap way of getting one of those fancy camera straps that hangs the comera upside down at your side.
