If you carry a small bag (which as I observe many people of both sexes do), you can easily put your camera in there, unless it is a big one, such as DSLR that would require bigger dedicated bag.

That friend of mine who bought Pana GM1 with its relatively smallish kit zoom bought himself a small (now, really! small) camera bag and voila - he's carrying his camera with him everywhere.
