Bearing in mind that I haven't tried all _that_ many bodies...
1: Still making up my mind between KX and K2
2: See #1
3: Super Program
4: H3/S3
5: H1a/S1a
I haven't had the K2 very long.
Number six would be the Spotmatic SPII.
I got to take a look at Tom's MZ-S on Sunday, and I must
say it felt nice and I really liked the angled top panel.
I could well imagine it making into my list if I got to
play with one for a while, though that would depend on how
well the user interface matches my brain.
The Spotmatic might eventually move higher in my list now
that I'm using the meter in it, especially since I tend to
reach for the screwmounts for macro, and TTL metering is a
good thing with extension tubes. (Then again, the recently
acquired screw-to-K adaptor to mount my screwmount bellows
on the Super Program, thus giving me TTL *flash* for macro,
might just change that.) It doesn't feel quite as nice in
my hands as the older screwmounts though, which matters when
choosing favourites. If it felt as nice as an S1a, it would
have made my top five already. Having a meter is nice.
I've never used an ES. I think I've used an SP500.
The ME makes a great backup camera (or just a "gee, I've
got the other three K bodies loaded and I want different
film" camera), but it didn't make my top 5. When I want
the automation, the Super Program provides more modes and
can still be used manually. (I like having the option of
manual control, and I keep reaching for that DOF lever that
isn't there. I recall a salesman saying that DOF preview
was mostly there for the feature count and wasn't important
in real use for most users. I pointed out that I actually
noticed the lack of it when using a body that didn't have
it, and he said okay, I was one of the few for whom it did
matter. Somehow I suspect there are lots of us on this list.)
I used a P5 for a few days. Nice enough camera for what it
is, but no closer to my top-5 than the ME. The other bodies
I know anything about are the K1000 (which felt like what I
keep describing it as: a KX minus a couple of features),
and whatever that MZ-series body was that I picked up in a
camera store and decided didn't fit my hands at all.
I've also held a 67II once in a store (and later was allowed
to handle Aaron's briefly), and have been just itching to
join the brotherhood since. But I've never used one.
