Evan, this is quite a simplification, without knowing exact facts I wouldn't say so. As I know exact facts, I also know you are wrong :) The longer lenses can and have been in the past used on 67. The Pentacon(CZJ) Prakticar/Meyer Goerlitz 5.6/500 telephoto has been used by fashion shooters adopted to 67. Although it was made by machining the rear part of lens I think. I have actually seen one in flesh, but not from close. The 180/2.8 CZJ Sonnar is a non-telephoto design (ie it's a longfocus lens) covering about 30 degrees IIRC, so it could perhaps cover 67 as well (non-telephoto lenses have usually quite bigger coverage than telephotos). This one, if you can find the older Flektoskop (for Contax RF cameras, like Leitz Visoflex system), the rear mount part can be easily unscrewed, and a simple adapter made from 67 tube could be made by machinist. There should be enough space for infinity focus IMHO (will check). I don't know if it would be economical there, here P6 lenses are relatively quite cheaper (or were, until Ebay), so it would be economical certainly over an original 500/5.6, and perhaps over Also, the Arsenal Kiev (IIRC) made Fisheye lens 30/3.5 CAN be made into 67 mount. See www.smu.edu/~rmonagha/mf and he has quite lot of posts pertaining to this theme, if you can find them. The deal was that the rear housing of the lens was removed (easily, as the lens is manufactured in one version but fitting two bayonet mounts, P6 and K88/Hassy1000, so they just exchange the rear part at the factory IIRC), and a 67 mount machined. Some have extrememly good praise of the fisheye, saying that it is better than the original Pentax (and certainly it is quite cheaper). HTH, Frantisek P.S.: I think it would all make sense only for the 500/5.6 lens and the fisheye. I don't think the wides like the excellent 4/50 or 2.8/65 flektogons would cover 67 fully. Who knows, though? -------------------- Žena v centru pozornosti na http://zena.centrum.cz - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
