Just a quick note to say that Alma and I met Mark Roberts and Dr Lisa in
Oxford today. Lovely to see them and we started with a bite to eat in
one of Oxford's hidden secrets: Edamame

<http://www.edamame.co.uk/>

Even I didn't know it was there and I've been patrolling the streets of
Oxford since 1988!

On to the Bodleian to see an exhibition of 800 years of medical history
- Dr Lisa was quite engrossed. A small room of displays and exhibits
detailing Oxford's achievements in the treatment of human beings. Liked
the penicillin displays. Lots of olde worlde texte bookes in Latin -
where the fucke is Bobe when one needes him.

Mark, here's a link for Lisa re Dr Gunter von Chopemupandplastinate:

Worthwhile googling him and looking at the images. In real life the
exhibits are astonishing.

...

To Blackwells bookshops for a bit of retail therapy. I was fondling a
virgin copy of Don McCullin's 'Shaped By War' for my son Stefan but it
was 25 quid and lo and behold only 16.95 on Amazon later at home. I
would rather buy from Blackwells but we don't have lots of spare cash
these days so needs must. Mark found interest in a book on design for
use in his professorial capacities, and indeed later returned to the
shop after we had departed, presumable to covertly purchase a copy of
'Tits and Bums Annual 2014'. Mark your secret is safe with me.

Time disappeared quickly and we retired to the coffee shop in the cellar
of the Ashmolean Museum (again - never been in there!) where we chatted
about members of the PDML we'd like to meet. I've prepared a list which
I will publish in another thread - if your name's on there, please buy a
ticket to London and we'll see you there.

It was good to see Mark and Lisa and we bade them farewell. It's such a
long time since I've travelled anywhere for pleasure - indeed I think
2009 to Grandfather Mountain was the last time! We won't get the chance
this year, but I am hopeful that in 2015 we'll be able to head across
the pond and do a proper tour. Very much looking forward to that. In the
meantime I'll have to persevere and settle for the pain of thumbing
Jostein's book when it arrives.

As you were.
