I really like the last one - so interesting to see the distortion and
the whole photo has a nice Monet feel to it.

I saw the moon set over the pacific from a friend's window in Oakland back in 1977 - it was about 4 am in April. I didn't have a tri-pod and pressed the 100 against the window pane.. alas, the slide is a blurry mess, but the moonset was quite a treat to see with the lights of San
San Franciso in the foreground.

Rick, Bruce, and Larry,

Thanks for the comments.
Rick & Bruce, here's a cropped version only 720 pixels tall.

Larry, here's more from the series taken a bit later.
+ 2 min.

I see, the boat is already well past.

It looks like the crop version is the best.

I guessed about 20 minutes to moonset, and it seems I was pretty close.

+15 min.

+18 min.

and the moon is gone!

Larry you'd be proud of me.
I took 120 shots in 1/2 hour,
then spent an hour editing to only show you one.

I always find it hard to figure out which is going to be the
one shot that works the best.

Thankfully it wasn't film...

Exactly, optimize your technique to the technology.

It's a beautiful moody shot, Bob. I'd crop a vertical of the center
one third of it, though. I feel there's way too much space either
side.

Taken hand held with the DA60-250/4 at about 170mm.
(didn't bring a tripod)
