Thanks, Alan. One of the pro full-distance athletes pulled out after the first lap of the bike because he was too cold to produce enough power on the bike to be competitive.
I didn't see anyone filming me so it's unlikely you'll see me in the video :) They're moving the race date to Feb 22nd next year for a warmer lake and more settled weather. In the past this event has been a bit notorious for its conditions on top of its brutal (and beautiful) course. It'll also be outside of the school holidays so there should be less traffic on the bike course. In my home city the swimming spots are all unsuitable for decent triathlons. There's a small tri festival held out at Pegasus town about 30km north from here, where there's a small artificial lake. But the town is too small to have a decent bike course. I've downloaded a Larry-esque quantity of photos now but it'll be a while before I work out how to organise them...
