I believe I had seen one somewhere before. I didn't know the culture reference, as it was before my time, and I am bad with remembering names. But do recall hearing the sign-off quoted by Don G. ("Good night, Mrs Calabash, wherever you are"). Now I got to read about the history of it. I agree with what Brian wrote about the looks of the fish. Besides, I know people frequently say about various creatures (especially insects) that those are ugly. But in reality, I think, that comes from the projection of the looks of those creatures onto human looks, and judging by humans understanding of beauty. I think measuring everything by humans' look is limiting. Besides, not all cultures have the same ideas about what is beatiful, and what's ugly. E.g. in some south-eastern Asia (Burma, Thailand?), there are tribes that value large ears, long necks, etc.. See, e.g. these images: http://goo.gl/Ur6zUD >From the point of view of a "western" culture, those look bizarre. In response to your blue fish, I'll post my "blue fish". :-) Igor -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
