I shot one a year and a half ago. You guys are really blowing this out of proportion.

I had dust on my gear and clothes, and what little didn't brush off my clothes, came out in the wash no problem. I even changed lenses while shooting. The company that did the one I attended uses mall parking lots and fairgrounds and other fairly open spaces. They didn't close off any streets, just the mall parking lot before it opened on a Sunday morning.
