We had a one-in-a-hundred-year storm last week which caused a fair bit of
flooding. It was exacerbated by changes in land and riverbed levels as a
result of the earthquakes and I won't get started on the mess that's created
with building, rebuilding and insurance in terms of flood risk.

Instead, here's a pretty photo of the sediments being washed out to sea.

My side of town had patches of surface flooding and the river at the back of
our property was getting fairly close to our back doorstep. Highest I've seen
it since we moved here 9 years ago. The street out front also flooded because
the river was so high there was nowhere for the water to drain.

Cheers,
Dave
