We had a one-in-a-hundred-year storm last week which caused a fair bit of flooding. It was exacerbated by changes in land and riverbed levels as a result of the earthquakes and I won't get started on the mess that's created with building, rebuilding and insurance in terms of flood risk.

Highest I've seen it since we moved here 9 years ago. The street out front also flooded because the river was so high there was nowhere for the water to drain.
