Do you like SF genre fiction? The grandfather book for the whole
steampunk thing is probably Bruce Sterling & William Gibson's The
Difference Engine. Worth checking out.

Yes, definitely a strong steampunk vibe there. Victoriana and gadgets.
Top hats, corsets, strange optical instruments and rayguns. All in fun
of course.
