In regard to the droplets, I think what you’re seeing is refracted light. The light angle is far from ideal here. It’s coming around from the front and slightly to the rear. Passing through the droplets creates some color here and there. Could be a bit of fringing but I don’t think so. This is far from a perfect shot. It’s handheld at 350mm and the duck was on the move. To make matters worse, I screwed it up. Had the exposure comp set at -7 from something I shot the other day and forgot to change it, so I had to push the exposure about a stop in conversion. That’s never idea of course. The eye is partly in shadow and not absolutely sharp, although it’s decent considering. I think the critters eye is just a black ball. Don’t believe there’s more detail there to be had, but I could be wrong.
