Hi Shel,
    A few months back, I picked up an old Encyclopedia of Photography
published by focal in 1960. Here they took exposure very serioulsy and
discuss the "British Standard Exposure Tables"
    All you have to know is your Latitude, Hemishpere, month of the year,
hour of the day, British Standard logrithmic index of your film and the
factor listed in the table. So simple!
    I will leave it behind and use my camera's meter or a hand held and
revert to the "sunny 16 rule" if in doubt.
