Unfortunately there are subtleties in the lighting that don't survive 
conversion to an sRGB jpg.


The "1752" plaque shows that the homeowner subscribed to one of the volunteer 
fire companies that provided fire protection from 1736 (when Benjamin Franklin 
organized the first one) until the Philadelphia Fire Department was organized 
in 1870. If your house caught fire and you weren't a subscriber to a fire 
company, the neighbors brought marshmallows to toast.

The houses in this neighborhood were built in the early 1800s.
