More good signs that, under Ricoh, Pentax has a better marketing department than they did under Hoya. I thought it was really lame when they called it the 645D 2014 (which would be dated as soon as 2015 rolls around. That haD all the originality of Windows 98). I knew they just COULDN'T keep that name. But waiting until now to reveal the true name creates another little wave of buzz.
So do you think it is going to be 645Z or 645Dz or 645dZ? It is also a tip of the cap to previous Pentax naming conventions, like the p-Z1. Maybe they will use a hyphen. I am really curious to see what this camera's video capabilities are. I'm not a videographer, but if this thing could do extended video filming on a medium format chip it could be a very serious tool for the money to videographers. I fear that this is going to suffer from the same overheating problems after so many minutes that the DSLRs do, without auxillary cooling - which would have driven up the price. I think that this camera could benefit from being designed with a removable back that would give you two back options: 1) that contains the standard LCD screen 2) a thicker one that incorporates sensor cooling AND the LCD If it snapped on and off like the old film backs, then people could buy one or both backs, depending upon their needs. The cooling back would also be terrific for astrophotographers. A LOT of serious astrophotographers used Pentax 6x7, back in the day and many of them spend big bucks.
