The AF 280T is an excellent flash. I bought mine from a list member (used of
course) for US$75. I didn't get the owner's manual with it but have since
got an e-copy of it which is now on my website for download. Lately I use
the flash off camera via a sync cord A attached to the LX's x-sync. If it's
in excellent shape I reccomend buying used to save some cash for later
purchases.

How to tell if a flash "communicates"? I will understand you to mean TTL
flash metering through the camera body. Your Minolta flash can only be used
in manual mode with your cmera. Probably it was a manual flash to begin with
anyway. I will defer to others on this list for a a list of what non-Pentax
flashes have TTL control with a Super A (does the Super A have TTL
capabilities at all?)
