Well, I've been playing with the K-5II for about three weeks now, mostly
familiarizing myself with the control interface. I keep starting to
write a long post about it but a.) it's boring and b.) the K-5II is old
news.
So I'll keep this short and sweet.
Pentax auto focus is finally worthy of the name.
Holly Crap! I can take acceptable shots at Crazy high ISOs the damned
thing can see in the dark.
I like the locking mode dial, unlike the K20D I know the mode it was in
when I bagged it will still be set next time I put it to my eye.
I still think it needs a dedicated switch to turn SR on and off, but the
quick menu using the info button is a pretty good solution.
About some of the info screen quick options, if you shoot raw about 1/4
of them are useless, how about the ability to program those fictions to
something useful when shooting raw?
Programming the AF button, ON or OFF??? even the K20D gave more options
than that.
The OK button does way to many things.
%*^$*$, I keep hitting the exposure compensation button when I want to
hit the green button and the green button when I want exposure
compensation. I see no particular reason for this change except the
exposure compensation button is now where certain Nikon models put it.
Consistency what consistency, why does the exposure compensation button
toggle that mode off and on, while the ISO button have to held down when
changing ISO. Is it so hard to hold the compensation button down?
Really those are niggles, but annoying niggles.
Now I need a split image range finder screen for my manual focus lenses,
and to decide on a couple of spare batteries, because they take a long
time to charge.
In short the camera turns out high quality image files and feels like
quality equipment in the hand. I haven't been this happy with a camera
since I picked up my first LX.
