I'm planning to re-install my Nikon Scanner (CoolscanIV ED) on the
system I built for photography. I've been researching how to get the
Scanner to work with Win7. I've downloaded a firmware update that is
required and fortunately I read the instructions - which is where
"almost" comes in.
The firmware update will *ONLY* work from a 32-bit WinXP system. Luckily
I found that out before blowing this system away.
I've been getting this system ready for a major hardware/software
upgrade. I've got a new motherboard, CPU & RAM ready to go + I'll be
replacing the existing IDE DVD & CD-ROM drives with a new SATA super
multi drive (old MB is hybrid IDE/SATA, new MB is SATA only).
Going to be Win7 Pro.
Since there is no WinXP to Win7 upgrade path, the hard-disk is going to
get wiped.
I've spent the last couple of days making sure I've got backups of
EVERYTHING and that I've made a list of all the product keys &
activation codes for the programs I use. I was planning to tackle the
job on Thursday.
Now, I've got one last task that has to be run under XP ... install the
Nikon Scan software & drivers on this system so I can run firmware updater.
