I know that I've mentioned this to the list several times already, but
it is my best deal ever. In fact, it's the deal that got me started on
Pentax, and back into photography in general after more than a decade
away from it.

About 4 years ago, my father picked up from a garage sale in Nova
Scotia, an SP500 with 2.0 55mm Tak and pre-set 3.5 200mm Tak, for $20
Canadian. The vendor told my dad that he didn't know if the camera
worked, based, I suppose, on the fact that despite a new battery in the
compartment, the meter didn't work. Dad bought it anyway, thinking he
could use it despite no meter.

When I saw it, I reversed the plastic ring on the battery, and voila, it
worked! I got the lot, as my father's eyesight was a little dim back
then, and he had trouble focussing, so he gave it to me. I've never had
that body serviced - it's as smooth as can be, and the meter seems bang
on.

regards,
frank
