Such a rush of questions! I will take them one at a time.

1. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Not only that, but form follows 
function.

2. If there were nothing for the pigeons to stand on they'd have to fly 
everywhere, in which case they'd be albatrosses.

3. Stupidity would be not standing on it, and using it for purposes other than 
that for which it was designed. Lolling, for example. It would be unfathomably 
stupid if the pigeons lolled on it.

4. They illuminate our darkness in many ways.

5. The critters of this earth are not for our need, nor we for theirs, but they 
need us and we need them. Besides, if we ran out of pigeons, what would the 
pelicans in St. James's Park eat?
