Actually, I would not have done what you suggest. I have taken that
image, and it can work very well, but that is not what I was after
here. I wanted to portray action in its surroundings. I tried to
focus on the subject's face, with her pleased expression, but I
especially wanted to include the congestion of the area (through the
car), the bystanders, and the sign with samples of the artist's work.
I was reaching for a Manhattan street scene rather than a portrait of
the artist at work or of the subject and here image in the work in
progress.
You may, however, be right in suggesting that there was a better shot
that I should have attempted instead.
