Hi James: Yes, in the sense that they allow you to get close with your original prime lens.
The big advantages of CU lens to my mind are that: There is no significant light fall-off Your automatic diaphragm continues to work as normal Your TTL metering is effective You can still use filters You can use a ring-flash ...can't think of any others at this stage!
