I blame your equipment (the camera, silly) I blame me. I wasn't taking enough care with the exposures, and in most cases should have put the camera on manual and used the Sunny-16 rule. That's what I did when I got to Perpignan, and the exposures are better. I didn't take an incident meter with me. I haven't really cracked bike tour photography yet. On this one I used a Fuji X20, which is a very good camera but has its share of annoyances. For example when it's set on manual you use 2 little dials to control the aperture and shutter speed, but they are both very easily disturbed so you can't rely on them without checking even from one frame to the next. This caught me out several times. The camera is small and light, but good quality, and fits easily into even a small handlebar bag, but I would prefer to take a dslr or a Leica M. The issue there is finding the right way of carrying them while on the bike. On my tour last year I took my Olympus E-3 in a Domke bag which I strapped to the bar. This was pretty good but it wore a hole in the bag, dishevelled the bar tape and got in the way of my grip on the bars. > Those moppets all in a row stand out and the firl in the red dress on the > stone railing - perhpas my favorite. and the rooftops, well - looks like a > splendid trip. > Thanks. I'll be posting more over the next few days.
