the k-5 IIs I have here does the same exact thing. if you turn on the 2s timer, the input for focal length goes away. it will prompt you when you turn on the camera still, but not record it. if you dive into the menu, you see the input option is greyed out. also if you turn off SR entirely, it also stops recording FL in EXIF. I don't know if I would call that a bug exactly, but it would be nice I'm sure for some to see what FL was used in exif.
