I think it's a soft keys display. When the function mode of the four
way controller changes it will display the new functions on the back
panel. That makes some sense if those keys are programmable, weather
the camera has a touch screen or not. On the other hand if like on all
previous Pentas DSLRs there are really only two modes for the four way
controller plus menu navigation, I see little point to that display.

I thought it might be touch screen initially. Maybe it is but the
inner ring of the main control dial seems to have the standard 4-way
button arrangement. I'm not sure why they'd want to replicate that on
the LCD.
