I'm not sure that the 3800 bleeds ink when idle - it simple parks the
head and then does a mini-flush when it is powered on. I can't say say
that I know that for a fact - that's what I that I have heard. At any
rate - draining on 80ml cartridge in a month would is clearly a malfunction!

I think they make better printers. I've used a few of them from the
ipf8000 series and their smaller printers are just as good and produce
the same quality, though with less inks. I have a Pixma Pro 9500 mk2
that is 10 colors and a very, very good printer. The newer pixma is
even better from what I have heard.

Between the 3800 and 3880 printers, they take the same ink cartridges,
physically, but the inks are different with respect to the magentas. Most of
the ink carts can be used in either, the magentas are model specific.

ones I have in the 3800 are all 80% full or more and I have 8 new cartridges
on hand - all tolled that is almost $1,000 worth of ink. I may be able to sell
the sealed cartridges but am sure I could not sell the ones installed in the
printer now. Looking on the web it appears the the two printers can use the
same cartridges but if that is the case, where do the upgraded K3 inks come
into play with the 3880?
Any comments would be appreciated -
