I'm in the market for a lens that works well for portraits and macro work such as close ups of flowers. The 100mm f2.8 FA Macro seems to be the best choice (though I'm interested in other opinions). I have searched for this lens used, since it's a bit above my budget, but so far I've only found an "100mm f2.8 F Macro" for $286 -- the difference, I think, is that the FA is a newer autofocus version that has an "MTF chip." However, I have no idea what that chip is and what it means or doesn't mean to me. Is the "F" version equal in performance to the "FA"? I prefer autofocus for the uses I'll put this lens to. I'm not an advanced photographer, but am getting a couple of good fixed length lenses to replace the cheap zoom that came with my ZX-10. I have the 50mm f1.4 FA and am looking into new and used 24s and 28s as well. I don't mind if the wide angle lens is manual focus.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List. To unsubscribe, go to http://www.pdml.net and follow the directions. Don't forget to visit the Pentax Users' Gallery at http://pug.komkon.org .
