Last Sunday the Lyttelton road tunnel, which links the city of Christchurch to its port, was closed to traffic for a few hours so people could walk through. Or cycle, blade, skate, scoot or run. We chose to walk through.
The tunnel is just under 2km long and is the longest road tunnel in the country. It's also longer than our longest bridge! On the way back, near the tunnel exit, I noticed this guy just chillin'. http://gallery.multi.net.nz/photo/814/#peso I'm a bit annoyed with this photo because I'd stopped the lens down a bit for a previous shot and had not pressed the green button to reset it. I only had a split second to get the shot so it's come out a bit Theriaultian. I can't do much about the blur but I have straightened it :) I might post a couple more photos of the occasion later but despite its faults this was my favourite from the day.
