The new Phosphate Flotation Plant at Foskor nearing completion. Cladding has just begun. Apatite (basically Calcium Phosphate) is upgraded from 7% P2O5 in the ore to 37% in the concentrate. Modern tank cell technology is used. This plant replaces two old plants built in the 1960's using long rows of much smaller rectangular cells. The capacity is 800tons/day. All the pipework was prefabricated on the Rand. At times there were as many as 10 cranes on site. Production is set to begin in January.
