Tim,

It is a very interesting effort. The detail and the focus in the first image is very good, but I am
not captivated by the imnage.
The image with the bee would've been the best, but the bee is OOF,
and that's the disappointments I've had several times while trying to get this type of shots: either the bee or the flower would be OOF.

I like the abstract and somewhat mesmerizing pattern in the 3rd photo.

In the 4th, - the middle portion of the flower, which is completely yellow, doesn't show well due to the lack of contrast: it looks almost like a continuous yellow spot. The shallow DOF is not helping either.
(And that's on my calibrated [just 2 weeks ago] Dell U-2410.)

I've seen this type of challenge with some of the unicolored flowers.
I that photo were mine, I would try to boost up the contrast and
sharpen with the edge mask taken to a high value- to enhance the edges of the features in the middle.

Hope this helps.

And now, the nerdy part, - since you've posted it already, - it has been taken a bit ahead of the equinox. But you probably know that... Brian was very kind to post this convenient link that tells you when the equinox is in your area:

Cheers,
