Hi, I recall that several months ago, there was a discussion about bringing cameras and (especially) long lenses to pro sporting events.
I went to a baseball game here in Toronto at the Skydome last night (BoSox killed the Jays, FWIW). I brought a Spotmatic body and my Tak 3.5 200 mm pre-set. I was a bit worried, after hearing from some listers who reported being hassled about bringing such equipment into events. Plus, the last time I was at the Air Canada Centre (home of the Maple Leafs and Raptors), I noticed big signs, saying that cameras with lenses longer than 70mm aren't allowed. So, I kind of had my camera slung behind my back, and had the big lens in it's case - no camera bag, so as not to attract attention. Well security ~did~ notice. They wanted to look at the lens, and asked me to take off a lens cap. Presumably they wanted to make sure that I wasn't sneaking in some booze. Once they were satisfied that it was a working lens, there was no problem. Didn't get any good pics, I don't think. Turns out that we were too far away from the field. Oh well. But, at least in Toronto, cameras and long lenses aren't a problem at baseball games. FWIW... regards, frank -- "The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds.
