A general comment - for both the subject comes across as being too centered. It could be partially aspect ratio, but in any case, I would crop just a bit somewhere to shift these. As the background in both images is not strongly contributing, any crop would probably work. Doing that much would help.
As for each image - I prefer the water lilly. I think partly because the background competes less than in the crocus. Also, the lighting is more pleasing. In both cases, I would really look to blurring the background more - possibly a longer focal length and/or a more wide open shot to really get the background to not compete with the subject. It is interesting to view from an ipad because you can pinch zoom and then drag the image around to see the effects of what a crop would look like. For the water lilly, I think cropping alone would really strengthen the shot and end up with a very pleasing image. -- Bruce Sent from my iPad > On Oct 28, 2014, at 10:28 AM, Eric Weir <[email protected]> wrote: > > > Autumn Crocus > https://www.flickr.com/photos/eeweir/15405892848/in/set-72157648487798090/lightbox/ > > Water Lilly > https://www.flickr.com/photos/eeweir/14971286324/in/set-72157648487798090/lightbox/ > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Eric Weir > Decatur, GA USA > [email protected] > > "What is man without the beasts?
