FWIW - I use Photomatix regularly on landscapes. When used with restraint it has a great way of evening up the tonality in an image and clarifying details. I often create a file in Photomatix and use it as a layer in compositions and find it very useful. It takes some time to figure out the controls and there are some controls that are needed but not present, but it can be a great tool.

I don't use it one closeups or macros - somehow it makes landscapes clearer but muddies up closeups.

I downloaded it, but Photomatix is sort of the epitome of products

HDR a bad name. However, I'm willing to give the tool the benefit of
the doubt and place the blame on the users who don't know any better
than to "dial it to eleven".

'morning all,

If you're interested in HDR software, this could be useful:

Windows & Mac versions are both available in this offer.

My friend the king of HDR speaks highly of this one, though I think he is
using a NIK product these days.
