I suggest you research the prices of M-series 50mm lenses. You may find that you can stretch to buying one of those along with an ME Super, since both M 50 lenses and ME Supers are fairly inexpensive. IMO, the M-series 50mm lenses are better built than the KA 50/1.7 -- I had a lens like yours, and it came to me with the very same problem. My local camera shop repaired it (sorry, I don't remember now how much they charged!) I've since parted with that lens, though; my only manual-focus body now is an LX, and I use M lenses on it.
