The good news: My 3rd K-3 seems perfectly fine and came preloaded with the latest firmware. The 55-300 replacement is also looking like an ok copy.
The bad news: the grip doesn't work, which is probably why flashing the firmware locked the 2nd camera. Going to send this 20-40 ltd in eventually to Precision to see if they can fix the slight decentering. I've kind of become attached to this copy for some reason. The rendering is awesome.
