I know that a few people here have been interested in steady tripods
recently. So, I thought this might be useful to someone.
Vaguard Auctus 323AT Aluminum Tripod for $150 @ B&H
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/763140-REG/Vanguard_AUCTUS_323AT_Auctus_323AT_Aluminum_Tripod.html
(Just in case, - note that this is not the "Plus" model that has a geared
central column, here it is manual.)
I did some research of the reviews. It looks like a very steady and
convenient tripod at a great price. (It is a bit heavy, - around 8 lbs /
almost 4 kgs.) And having used a Vanguard photo bag for almost 2 years
now, I am impressed with the thoughtfullness of the design by this
company.
I almost decided to buy it, as a replacement to my old original
aluminum TiltAll is getting too old [*]. But then, I
decided that it would be even heavier than the TiltAll ( 8+ vs 6 lbs),
and I have a comparably heavy (~8 lbs without the 3-lbs head) video
Manfrotto tripod.
=========
[*] Last time I tried to disassemble it trying to figure out how one of
the legs could be used as a monopod -- according to rumors, I somewhat
damaged the gasket, or whatever it's called, - inside the central column
mount. It's working fine, but that gasket can probably fall apart at any
moment.
