I had a similar issue with a PZ-1p.... It was a mechanical problem with
the shutter assembly itself. No repair possible and since the camera was
pretty old when it happened no replacement shutter assembly was
available either. Since the shutter is such a purely mechanical part of
the camera, it would probably be best to get it replaced if it is not
working well - I don't think there is much that can be done to fix it.
At least it should still be under warranty.

I went to change the camera angle, and when I put it on live view to
tweak the framing, the top part of the image was black. The shutter is
not opening all the way, the curtain shows about 1/4th of the way.
This happened all of a sudden: all the photos in my time lapse were
fine. There were no bumps or drops, just me stopping the time lapse
and putting the camera in light view.
It keeps doing it regardless of what I do--fresh battery, shoot on
continuous high speed, set the camera on sensor cleaning mode. The
shutter just doesn't want to open all the way.
Given that it's been less than a year, I suppose this should be
covered under warranty. I'm about to send it in, but I wanted to ask:
has anybody had an issue like this? Any recommendations on how to fix
it myself?
